Black Coffee

I was born in the city
Not too far away from here
People come to call me
There ain’t nobody here

Then you came a-knockin’
Done rattled on my door
And ever since that fateful day
You dropped me to the floor

If you ever think you’re gonna go
You just better let me know
‘Cause I hate drinkin’ my coffee black
Sittin’ here all alone

Baby you’re the sweetener
Baby you’re the cream
If you told me you were leavin’ now
You know I’d have to scream

Make me some of that coffee baby
Just make it any old way you  want
It’s alright with me
Make me some espresso, I don’t care

It’s all good to me!

Next week is our 38th wedding anniversary….so I wrote this for my baby.
Poor thing, she doesn’t drink much coffee any more….but every now and then, we sit over a long cup.
The song….(just a jam)

Endurance

Sometimes the journey takes us over seemingly endless waters.
Just keep pushing.

It’s been awhile since I’ve uploaded to my print site….this one was added yesterday.

Endurance

I think I’ve used this title already.
It’s ok.
It’s like having two children with the same name. It will be just a little awkward sometimes…

The day was very non-cooperative when I made this….
No clouds…so I turned and used some reflections coming off the river behind me. I couldn’t represent the river for this piece. So I apologized for appropriating its tonal values. “Look”, I said,”it’s nothing personal. Your ripples and such are fine, but that’s not needed right now. But your light refraction is spot on!
Moon has fully cooperated and allowed me to bring her down to the fake horizon. Actually, there’s not a horizon there….it’s just the way our minds complete things. It’s Tom Foolery I suppose. So are we good?”
She said, “what’s light refraction?”

One another note….my second “Dream Sequence” ambient music video is well on its way….should be finished in couple of weeks. It will feature a compilation of all my butterfly cuts and some ambient music. Here is a WIP view.

Moms

How far, is it, to the moon?
And from where did I come?
How did I grow inside of you?
Was it magic or a miracle?

Where were you just now, I was lost?
Can you see the rain afar off?
I’ll be gone for the day, for the week.
What will I do, when I work in the world?

Will there be someone for me?

Did I hurt you when I moved away?
Did you call my name in the night?

How far, is it, to the moon?

We were all once seeds, held tight by a beautiful flower.

Ordered Chaos

I might be too old to write about the birds and the bees. That’s alright. I went ahead and added some music and video just to confirm what I already knew. It’s the little things that make life interesting. I wrote a poem for this project, forgot about it, then wrote another one with a slightly different perspective. They’re both here:

“Ordered Chaos”

We are obsessively enslaved
To our own sense of place and order
Every room has a function
Every place, a purpose

Rarely do we consider
The genius of nature’s chaos

Song sparrows
Sing for a mate
And in the same spot
A rabbit is torn
Limb from limb
To feed a coyote

In that same spot
Sweet pea feeds a hungry bee
In symbiotic friendship

Grass dies quickly
Tree claims victory,
Sleeps during the cold months
And again fights
Grass’ resurrection in the spring

We see disorder
Because we are blind
To what real order can be
We are disruptions to harmony

Listen to the song
Join the chorus

Birds called to me
Singing songs of lifted joy
“You must have seen her!
This path
Of long lost journeys.

Her beautiful legs
Now brightly adorned
In skirted magic
All aglow in purple
And yellow
Brighter than the sun.

Even the bees
Can’t escape
Her seductive sweetness
Drawn to her
Unknowingly,
Hopelessly hypnotized.

Have you ever seen
Such full, thick trim?
Stroked
By gentle breezes
Braided
By fiddle-necks and mustard

Everything
Is drawn to her now.
Everything
Even you.
You have no answer for it
Neither have you the will
To fight away
Her calling”
